FAQ

What is cake smash photography?

Cake smash photography is a fun and playful way to celebrate a child's first birthday. It involves capturing the baby as they explore and smash a cake, creating adorable and often messy photos.

When is the best time for a cake smash photoshoot?

Cake smash sessions are typically scheduled around the child's first birthday. This is a milestone when babies are curious, playful, and ready to explore new textures. If you wish to have photos ready for child's birthday I would advise to book photo session 3 weeks before birthday.

How long does a cake smash photoshoot typically last?

How long does a cake smash photoshoot typically last?

What should my baby wear for a cake smash photoshoot?

Babies often wear cute outfits or birthday-themed attire for the cake smash. Some parents choose to dress their child in just a diaper cover or a simple onesie to fully enjoy the mess.

Can parents and siblings be included in the cake smash photoshoot?

Yes, many cake smash sessions include parents and siblings to capture the joy and excitement of the celebration.

Do I need to bring props for the cake smash photoshoot?

I do provide a backdrop and props like balloons, banners, or themed accessories. I don't provide cake. Parents typically provide the cake for the session. Choose a cake with vibrant colors and a soft texture that makes it easy for the baby to smash and play with. It's common for the cake to match the chosen theme. Avoid red and chocolate icing.

How can I prepare my baby for a cake smash photoshoot?

Ensure your baby is well-rested and fed before the session. Bring along a favorite toy or comfort item to help keep them comfortable and engaged.

What type of cake is best for a cake smash?

I recommend a soft and simple cake with minimal frosting for easy smashing. Home baked, store bought or ordered with the bakery, all work well. Choose 8-9 inches cake and try to avoid chocolate and red icings. Some parents choose to coordinate the cake's colour and decorations with the session's theme.

Can I request specific themes or colors for the cake smash photoshoot?

Vix ut utinam feugait. Eu scribentur liberavisse nec. Dico fugit nostro cu pri, no putent nemore mel, ius at minim molestiae

What about other birthdays?

If you want to photograph older child's birthday or simply don't like the idea of smashing the cake there are other options.
I offer paint smash where child will paint on canvas. It's super cute images and you can take home your child's created peace of art. Other birthdays can be captured just with balloons, confetti, or other props that symbolise joy and celebration. Children age 5+ can have photos taken of them blowing the candle on the cake or cupcake. Family portraits always included during birthday sessions.

How soon I will receive edited photos?

2-3 weeks. If you wish to have photos ready for actual birthday, please book session at least 3 weeks before birthday.
